Genevieve Gauckler

'Genevieve Gauckler is a Paris-based artist and creator of a world of eccentric characters, blending them seamlessly into her everyday environment.' 

I stumbled upon Genevieve Gauckler's work on her agent's website. I was very pleased to discover it because I had forgotten all about her fantastic work. I saw her foodchain illustrations in a Dutch design magazine a few years ago. They are so wonderful! I'll make sure to post those another time.

The way she thinks and works is exactly how I would love to illustrate!

The Chap are an experimental pop band from London. Their music is a mix of rock and pop with small quantities of almost every other genre thrown in for good measure. They are known for their energetic live shows which often end with exploding violins and cellos.

Draw and fold over

We probably all did this during our childhood: Someone draws a head, folds over the paper, another one draws the body, folds over again and the third one draws the legs. Result: weird creatures! Always a lot of fun, so I was really happy when a twitterfriend tweeted me this website. Browse the fantastic gallery or start a new drawing and send it on!

Recycling cans

This Esty seller from Hong Kong has found a beautiful solution to help recycle. He uses sodacans for his little sculptures. He combined the concept of origami and sculpture to create a figurine that is built entirely using origami skills (no screws or glue is used). Check the website for more photos and details.

Anna Raff's birds

Anna Raff is an illustrator in New York City who who works for children's books, editiorials and magazines. But I especially love her birds. She has a blog where she posts a bird illustration every day. These works are so lovely and humorous. It looks as though she does them in between jobs!
