Jessica Hische
Designer Jessica Hische is the person behind the blog Daily Drop Cap. She is a great typedesigner, graphic deisgner and illustrator, who can measure with the like of Marian Bantjes (well... almost). I especially love her hand-lettering.

Joost Swarte
I've always loved Joost Swarte's work, although I haven't really kept up to date with his work lately.
Joost Swarte started as a Design Academy student but left school before he graduated and became a comic book creater. But in the eighties he he changed from drawing comics to illustrating and grahic art. He designed and/or illustrated posters, stamps, type, furniture, stained glass, murals and even a building in Haarlem.
He has a very recognizable style, the clear line style, claire ligne. In fact Joost Swarte coined the term. The most influential of the claire ligne artists was Hergé –the creator of the popular comic 'The Adventures of Tintin.'

Siggi Eggertsson
Icelandic designer Siggi Eggertsson studied graphic design but during his study shifted his focus towards illustration and typography. Eggertsson’s work really stands out. No sketches, doodles or collages. His style is based upon patterns, vector shapes and lines. It’s a bit like pixel art, simple and expressive.

Desk diaries
Two desk diaries designed by different design agencies for Spinhex & Industrie, a printer in Amsterdam. Each year a different theme, such as the different calendars (Gregorian, Jewish, Arabic and Chinese) or - totally different - fluorescent colors.
Both diaries are bound using a Japanese binding method and sophisticated microperforations.

René Knip
One of the best Dutch designers in my opinion is René Knip. We attended the same Art College but I'm afraid that's where the similarity ends... His work revolves around typography and typedesign, in the widest sense of the word. He combines a craftsman’s use of materials with a personal concept of design in which he works together with authors and poets. Gebroeders Knip was founded with his brother, Edgar Knip, who is an industrial designer. They use two-dimensional lettering, as created by René, to give form and poetry to the three-dimensional structures that Edgar creates. Look at his amazing work on his website.
