Une première année de sciences

Vintage French book, rather damaged but still quite beautiful. This is the third edition from 1884. The small encyclopedic drawings are really superb.

Sushipot - Suzanna Scott

These beautiful pieces of art are mixed media collages made by American artist Suzanna Scott (Sushipot). Visit her Etsy shop to find out more about her artwork, her shop profile reads:
Suzanna's work is inspired from all things old, chipped, cracked, worn, dusty, used, found, buried, designed, loved, pieced, intricate, aged and transfigured. Suzanna seeks to find beauty within discarded objects and hope within blemished books.

Sushipot blogs as well and I'm happy to say that she is one of my followers! I always get so inspired when I look at her work and her blogposts. She is a collector like I am, but she definately makes better use of her collections...

Encyclopedic drawings

About 10 years ago I bought an old set of encyclopedia. I was especially interested in the illustrations, so (I'm almost afraid to admit it) one night my friend Yvette and tore up all the books and took out the drawings... What's left of the books is a large stack of drawings such as this one. I'll probably post more of these drawings now and then. They are pretty amazing. Unfortunaltely the size doesn't fit under my scanner so I had to scan the drawing twice and stitch the two parts together in Photoshop.
It's terrible, but I can't remember the brand, nor the publishing date of the encyclopedia. I feel like such a barbarian now!!
