Printers cabinet

My neighbour Claire was doing some serious Spring cleaning and was throwing out these beauties. I was just in time to save them from ending up in the dump. Thanks again, Claire!

Logo for Richard Wagner

I designed this logo about 18 years ago, for an Art College assignment. The briefing was to design a letterlogo for a famous person. Of course, it was important to do some research about his/her life and work. At first, I thought about making a logo for Shirley Temple or Nancy Reagan, but finally I decided on Richard Wagner. I had done quite some research on him prior, so I already had a lot of visual ideas.
I made this logo by hand, from scratch (ink on paper).  Back then I hardly ever used the computer.

The word as image

Fantastic book from 1970 by Berjouhi Bowler (a New Yorker by Armenian descent):
'Shaped texts have appeared all over the world, and from the most ancient times to the present day.'

Of course, nowadays the computer helps us generate text easily, but look at these pictures and keep in mind that they were all drawn, written or designed before 1970!

Write between the lines

I don't know the correct English term for this vintage item. In Dutch it's called a linen 'letterkaart' or a 'schoolplaat'. It was used in classrooms to teach the youngest how to write.
I bought this one at a flea market
