Cookie jar

I just love these sixties illustrations. This cookie jar looks smaller than it actually is. Beautiful right?

Agenda Lumière-Jougla

Quite old, this agenda (1914), published by the Union Photographique industrielle.

Die Mode in fünf Jahrhunderten

This beautiful item is a German book about fashion throughout the ages, from 1400 - 1900. The book was published in 1936, and the drawing are really beautiful, vibrant colours and very well printed. I have a couple of German books printed and published with similar quality. I'll post about those another time.

More stuff from the attic

The suitcase also unveiled these items: 2 vintage tiles and a small book. This 'baby passport' kept track of the vaccinations I received when I was a kid.

Shoes and things

A few of items that were hidden away in the small suitcase; my old babyshoes (I'm so happy I still have these), a few small tins, a somewhat bigger tin and a desk calender. Is it a bird, is it a penguin?

Spring cleaning

Sometimes it's rather a nuisance being such a collector as I am. Most of all I collect dust... But sometimes I come across items I had forgotten all about. Such as last week; I was cleaning out the attic, desperatly trying to make it dust-free, when I discovered this small suitcase under a kabinet. I was full of small treasures.
I'll blog more about the different items tomorrow.

Going once... going twice

I found this game at the local thriftshop, how great is that! I haven't got a clue when this game was published. I didn't even know such a game existed. A pity though, the hammer is broken. The previous owner tried to fix it with far too much tape. We haven't played it yet, our kids a too small to understand the value of money. Besides, they weren't around yet, when the Dutch currency was the guilder!

Send in your box!

Check out this website, the boxdoodle project. I think it would be really great to send in a project: rearrange a box to make any kind of figure or object. Make the most of least.
What a great idea, and what lovely results!

Green alphabet

This alphabet of Britain has been collected by 25-year- old Rachel Young after selecting the images from a Google map of aerial photographs of the country.
Rachel came up with the idea as a way of passing the time during her convalescence after being badly injured in a car accident in February. Incapacitated and laid up in her home in Ossett, West Yorkshire, she decided to hunt down perfect images representing all 26 letters of the alphabet. Over three days, Rachel scoured the maps, looking at odd shapes, winding rivers, forests, fields, roads and buildings - anything that might throw up a shape that resembled the letters of the alphabet.

Catalina Estrada

Yesterday I came across this beautifully illustrated book by Paulo Coelho, called Love. Perhaps I'm the millionth blogger to post about this book or about this artist but I still want to share my 'find'. Check out her website or her Flickr

Alphabet game

Another great game I found at the thriftshop for about a euro. Unfortunately this shop doesn't have a lot of respect for vintage stuff. They stick a price tag on it which I could hardly remove without damaging the box and to make it even worse, they close the box with a lot of tape.
But then again, who am I to talk... I tear up old encyclopedia's for the illustrations...

Encyclopedic drawings

About 10 years ago I bought an old set of encyclopedia. I was especially interested in the illustrations, so (I'm almost afraid to admit it) one night my friend Yvette and tore up all the books and took out the drawings... What's left of the books is a large stack of drawings such as this one. I'll probably post more of these drawings now and then. They are pretty amazing. Unfortunaltely the size doesn't fit under my scanner so I had to scan the drawing twice and stitch the two parts together in Photoshop.
It's terrible, but I can't remember the brand, nor the publishing date of the encyclopedia. I feel like such a barbarian now!!

Nursery rhymes

I bought this lovely book about a month ago at Marktplaats via Pien. This book took my breath away, the illustrations are so sweet and adorable! Pien gave me a tip about a series of books with the same style of illustation. I'll post those another time. They are really lovely as well.
