Music from the USSR

A few years ago I bought this lovely toy guitar in a second hand store. It looks quite old because inside is a sticker 'made in USSR'. So I would say, at least about 20 years. The guitar was in perfect condition, but after being in our house for a few months it already was in rather poor condition. I guess my kids really don't appreciate vintage style...

Heritage of Timur Lenk

My friend and colleague Agreeth designed this book for Ben Vroom, who was in Uzbekistan for 4 months. She used beautiful printing and binding techniques to design this book. The cover looks simple but has a beautiful embossing. When you flick through the book quickly it looks as though there are no pictures in it. But look closely and you discover that the pages can be opened and new spreads appear with wonderfully colour pictures. The typography is elegant and the choice of paper is excellent. Really nice job!

Travelling in and around London

London Transport has always been my fascination. Back in Art College it wrote my thesis about the London Underground; the map and the way signing. I consider the London Underground Map one of the best graphic design pieces ever and I love the London Transport corporate identity (the logo, the colours and the type face). I bought these maps and leaflets in St. Ives when we were there on holiday, a long time ago. I remember I was over the moon when I found these. They're all from the early seventies. Vintage, I'd say.

Blexbolex

I got introduced to Blexbolex through Deborah over at Kickcan and Conkersand bought this book in Berlin the other day. I'm ashamed to say I wasn't familiar with his work before... But I'm glad I got to know it now. Thanks Deborah, for sharing this great artist!

Counting

One of my doodles. One of the project I can still show a bit of patience and persistency. I need to do that from time to time, to take my mind of things.

Sara Midda

I know Sara Midda is famous for her South of France Sketch book and the Baby book. But I love this book, growing up and other vices. I must admit it's the only one by her I own... twice. I love the simplicity in her work, the way she uses a few lines and colours which capture just the right tone of voice and just the right atmosphere. Amazing, I think.

Ariadne's thread

Old magazines are always great, but these are fantastic: old DIY projects, patterns for knitting, for embroidery etc. The advertising is nice as well, meant for the 'modern' housewife. Ariadne is a magazine title evolved into Ariadne at home. It is now a magazine about interior decoration.

The smallest tins

Why are these small items always so expensive?!

Are you a rose expert

After reading this booklet you might be!

Happy families

Here in the Netherlands we call this game 'Kwartet'. According to Wikipedia the English call it Happy Families. This one is a fairy tale version, with different 'fairy tale families' such as Snow White or Cinderella. I bought just the cards, the box was gone, unfortunately.
