Larousse for beginners

I photographed this book in Germont, just like the books in the previous post. I thought this one deserved a post of its own. This small children's dictionnaire is from 1949. The illustrations in it are beautiful, especially the coloured ones. I just love it, I definately want one of my own now...

Dans la bibliothèque

In the big cabinet in the living room in Germont I discovered a few treasures; some beautiful vintage books.

Sleeping in the hay

Last week we stayed in Germont, France. We rented the holiday house of a former colleague of mine. She and her husband bought a hay loft and turned it into a great house to live in after years of hard work. The website show pictures of the amount of work they put into this small palace. Do take a look, it's absolutely amazing!
The house is decorated with a lot of 'brocante', so that was right up my alley! You can imagine we had a great time in this beautiful and inspiring place.

Holiday journals

Trip to Prague-Budapest-Krakow-Berlin

Hitch-hiking through France

City trip to Strasbourg and Barcelona

Holiday to the south-west of Britain

Holiday to Corsica

When we were students we used to travel through Europe. We hitch-hiked a lot and hardly ever stayed longer than 2 nights in one place. During those trips I always kept a journal in which I described our days. I used the journals to collect tickets, receipts, cards, plans etc. Looking back the books are nice time capsules.

Entertainment during roadtrips

Our drive to this holiday spot in france wasn't a very long one (3.5 hrs) so the children weren't too bored. But sometimes, on longer trips they do get bored and then it's my job to keep them entertained. We don't have a DVD-player in the car so we play games (I spy with my little eye, count cars, etc) we listen to music, tell stories, read or sleep. This Big Book of Car Games is a great source that could keep them entertained when they are a bit older and are able to read the instructions.
For now it's for my enterainment because the games and illustrations are great and inspiring!

Walt Disney's family game

This is our first day in a beautiful house in the North of France. The weather is cold and rather wet so we're inside a lot. The house is decorated in a gorgeous vintage style, so I hope to be able to post some pictures later this week.
There's no TV here so the children have to keep themselves busy in and around the house... The old-fashioned way! We're playing games, reading and drawing a lot. I took some games from home such as this 'jeu de famille'.
Hopefully the weather will clear up so we can visit a few places. There seems to be a felt museum, which sounds rather nice!
Fortunately there is a wifi connection so blogging isn't a problem.

Holiday in Germont

Next week we'll be staying in this beautiful house in the Champagne Ardennes in the North of France. That means that I'll be blogging a bit less than usual. However, the laptop is coming along so I'll keep you all posted from time to time. Hopefully the weather will be dry or even a bit sunny, so I can share a few nice pictures!
