Big letters

I'm always on the look out for big letters, letters signs, especially vintage ones. Hard to find, or extremely expensive... I was happy to come across these letters, they're about 20 centimeters high.

In case you hadn't guessed yet, they're from the Diesel logo.

Zeeuws meisje

This is me, here at Turning pages, on two Twitter accounts, Pinterest and a few other social networks. I made this logo about 10 years ago. When I started blogging and tweeting I dusted off the logo and since then I've been using it as an alter ego. 

The logo is based upon a butter brand called Zeeuws meisje (see below). Zeeuws meisje is synonymous  with: a distinct accent, old fashioned, thrifty and folklore dresses. When I was 18, I left Zeeland to study and people around me started calling me Zeeuws Meisje.

Thesis

Way back, in my final year in Art College I wrote my final thesis on subway maps and subway signage. Quite an extensive work it turned out to be: I researched the London Subway, used it as the perfect model and compared it to the smallest subways on Earth: Amsterdam and Rotterdam. I was rather ambitious, it turned into a 120-pager! 

You can imagine, I did quite a lot of citytrips to the three cities.

Logo for Richard Wagner

I designed this logo about 18 years ago, for an Art College assignment. The briefing was to design a letterlogo for a famous person. Of course, it was important to do some research about his/her life and work. At first, I thought about making a logo for Shirley Temple or Nancy Reagan, but finally I decided on Richard Wagner. I had done quite some research on him prior, so I already had a lot of visual ideas.
I made this logo by hand, from scratch (ink on paper).  Back then I hardly ever used the computer.
