Yeondoo Jung - Wonderland

The other day we received a mailing from a paper supplier at the office. It showed Wonderland project by Korean artist Yeondoo Jung. I was very taken by the idea to use the framework of children’s drawings. In this series, the artist takes a literal approach in translating information between actual children’s drawings and staged photographs. Space and distance are distorted as the artist’s photographs offer a mix of reality and fantasy in the interpretation of a child’s view of the world.

The photos are very colourful and vibrant. Such a simple, yet wonderful idea!

Skillful fingers

Vintage book from the fifties. It 's written for arts and crafts teachers and shows arts and crafts for ideas for the youngest children in school. I especially love the cover!

Drawing stories

My daughter (8) loves to draw. She's not particularly good at it but it helps her relax. Before school starts she and her classmates can use this sketch book, 'rommelschriftje' to draw or doodle in. It's always great to hear the stories she creates in these drawings. Animals and girls are her favourite.

I think you're so sweet

Today our Queen Beatrix turned 73. That doesn't mean that much to me, but it is a nice occasion to show you this lovely book.
This book is dedicated to her mother, Queen Juliana, for her Silver Jubilee in 1973. Children from the Netherlands, the Dutch Antilles and Suriname were asked to write the Queen a letter and draw her a picture.

Turning 8

Two invitations for my daughter's 8th birthday, which was yesterday. The first one is for her swimparty with schoolfriends (a co-production) and the second one is for family and friends.

Sunday sessions

Lewis, 5 years old
Bruno, almost 7 years old
Mila, 7 years old
Danni, 10 years old

This afternoon my kids were painting with their friends. It's always quick and dirty with them, but this time they were a bit more dedicated.
