Attention, attention: Blogpost #500!!

Dear all!
This post is number 500. It took me little under a year to get to this point. My blog developed from posting my own work, to showing my collection of vintage stuff into a virtual place where I collect and show my inspiration.
The bloggers amongst you know how much work blogging is. I'm always so thrilled when someone comments or clicks the follow button. And I especially love it when someone takes the time to leave a comment. Thanks to all you regular readers and viewers!
However, sometimes I get disappointed when I realise that my blog is a bit unnoticed; Not that many followers, few comments and not a lot viewers on most days.
So, I need your help; if you enjoy my blog, please spread the word! And if anyone has a tip for me on how to get more traffic, please don't hesitate to comment or e-mail me at ellen.vandesande@gmail.com.
Thank you all so much.

Our family tree

Last weekend we celebrated my parents 50th wedding anniversary. I made them a gift full of memories: a family tree with pictures of all the children and grandchildren. Even the cat and 3 dogs were part of the tree.
I designed the tree in Adobe Indesign and used my own handdrawn textures in the background. I had it printed on canvas. It was my first canvas print, so I was a bit nervous. But I was very pleased with the result. So were my parents...

Father's day

Yesterday was father's day. No, I did not forget... but I did forget to dedicate a post to my father. My dad used to be a coal merchant back in the sixties and early seventies. He owned the company together with his brother. These bills are memorabilia items from that period.

Grandfather's letters

My grandfather was in the United Kingdom during World War II. My grandmother and my mother stayed in the Netherlands. They kept in touch by writing letters/notes to each other. The letters were sent via the Red Cross. Of course letters had to be approved by the German Wehrmacht hence the stamps. The letters and the Red Cross forms are part of my grandparents legacy.

Another trip down memory-game-lane

This is the memorygame I used to play at home. It was a very extensive version and had a lot of cards I used to hate to look at. Of course I don't show those ones here. But take a closer look at the box... The game is by Otto Maier Verlag.

Good old memory

During the wintertime we snuggle up and play a lot of games with the kids. One of their favourites is memory. I love these old drawings!

Memorygame for the teacher

For Mila's preschool teacher I made this memorygame. I used pictures of her classmates, symbols, children's drawing, portraits of all the teachers. I was very pleased with the result and so was the teacher!
