Vintage weekly for the young

I bought quite a lot of vintage magazines lately, but these issues of 'Weekblad voor de Jeugd' are really special: I couldn't find much about it, just that these magazines were made in the late 1800s, early 1900s. The illustrations are beautiful and still very colourful. I'm on the lookout for more of these!

Perspective

I can still remember the first time I learned about perspective drawing, it took a bit of the fun out of drawing. I think I was about 12. Later on I learned to draw with 1-3 vanishing points, rather technical actually. It never really interested me but these drawings do take me back in time.

The highest destiny

Beautiful vintage book I bought the other day. The book is from 1877 (second edition) and has three lithographs in it. Unfortunately the book is a bit stained.

The artist statement:
'My work investigates the slippery intersection between the digital world and reality. Specifically, I am interested in how we experience nature through technology. When we see images of nature on TV or on a computer screen, we feel that we are seeing nature but we are really only seeing patterns of pixilated light. [...] '

Happy Birthday

Last Friday, May 20th, was my birthday. I thought I'd show you some of the greeting cards I received when I had my childhood birthdays.

Places

I bought this book at the fleamarket on Queen's day in Utrecht.

Electro cards

It's always amazing to realise how your visual memory works. I remember a lot of these pictures from my youth. Probably 'cause I had trouble playing this game :-)
