I have a few more vintage postcards which I'd like to share!

I always look for the postcards which were actually sent and have text on them. This one is particularly sweet. A mother writes to her son who's away from home for the holiday.

Post #995 - Mila and her friends

Our daugther Mila turned 9 a few weeks ago. For this occasion she and 6 of her friends did a workshop 'animation'. Writing a story, moulding clay characters, filming. Quite difficult for 8-year olds... but a lot of fun.

Congratulations

Today we celebrated my son's birthday. Quite exhausting, but always fun to have a room and a (small) garden full of people! 

Birthday boy

Our son turned 6 last week, but eveyone was still on holiday. So we decided to have his party in September. This is the invitation I made for his party. (Click on the image to enlarge)

Last Friday, May 20th, was my birthday. I thought I'd show you some of the greeting cards I received when I had my childhood birthdays.

Turning 8

Two invitations for my daughter's 8th birthday, which was yesterday. The first one is for her swimparty with schoolfriends (a co-production) and the second one is for family and friends. 

What I do at the office

I made these postcard illustrations for a client of ours. They are a bit cheesy, I admit, but I thought I'd post it anyway. Because an assignment like that hardly ever comes my way. It was fun to work on!

Vandaag is deze speciaal voor jou, mam. Omdat je me vroeger altijd mijn kaartjes liet in plakken kan ik nu terugkijken op een plakboek vol mooie oude kaartjes en herinneringen! Dank je wel.

This blogpost is for my mother who went into surgery today. She used to 'make' me collect the postcards I received in this book. Back then I didn't like doing it but now I'm really glad she encouraged me. The book is a nice collection of vintage postcards from the (early) seventies. My own time capsule!

Cars, cars, cars

Lewis is 4 years old now, but when he was 2 all he played with were cars. So, the obvious choice was a birthday invitation with a car on the front. It was clear that it was a wishlist as well...

Magenta again

Corné took a great picture of Mila when she turned 4. I used it to make the invitations. Magenta is a colour I really like to use...

Turning 75

Last year my father turned 75 and my mother wanted to surprise him with a party. I made the invitiations and used old postcards for the design. My father originates from Breskens, a small town with a fishing port. My father collects old postcards from that town so this design was truly inspired by him!

flying low

My mother always wanted to fly, so finally, when turned 64 we gave her a flight in a small plane as a present. She enjoyed it very much. She saw her hometown and the region she loves so much from the sky. A really exciting experience for her!

Creatures

This is the birthdaycard I designed for Lewis' 4th b-day. I made him a friend-book with these creature as well. I'll post that soon. The book is constantly 'on the road' travelling from one classmate to another.
