MixMax

To think I actually doubted to buy this game! I didn't like the illustrations at first but when I photographed it the game actually grew on me. Such fun!
It's a classic theme, of course, mixing and matching the several pieces. But it never gets boring.
This Ravensburger game is from 1972. I was happy to discover it was complete.

The Fire Bird - Russian fairy tales

I found this gorgeous children's book in a thriftshop. It's an English translation of Russian fairy tales, with beautiful titles. Such as: the fire bird, the frog Tsarevna, chestnut grey, Emelya and the pike, Vasilisa the beautiful.
I'm always interested in vintage books from Eastern Europe. The illustrations are always so interesting and beautiful. The drawings are by Igor Yershov and Ksenia Yershova. The book was first published in 1973 by Progress Publishers Moscow.

Sam Winston

Through his explorations of language Sam Winston creates sculpture, drawings and books that question our understanding of words, both as a carriers of messages and as information itself.

Esther Dudley, Lecturer in Design History, School of Art & Media Plymouth University:
“His methods of production are certainly of our time: statistics, data collection and analysis, computer programming. Yet he is dependent on craft as well: drawing, doodling, cutting and folding. Concepts are revealed and emerge through his interrogation, until they are utterly logical and clear. They are also inspiring, leading the viewer to a fresh understanding of an art that can be constructed from typography, opening onto a beautiful aesthetic composed of text as image.
